fairy cakes

Before the invasion of the cupcake we had fairy cakes and I love baking them and setting them out on my cake stand for Sunday tea.

So my final piece for Wendy using the Crafty Secrets Fairyland stamps just had to be a cake!

I used my Hot of the Press cupcake template again after decorating some watercolour paper with my distress inks and stamped images.

I added stamped images to the paper case, including this ladybird who I just think is sooooooo cute, wandering off to fairyland wearing his walking stick and top hat!

The fairy is attached to the flower on the top of the cake which can be lifted off in order to open the box and see what goodies are inside!  And the little cake tag is part of the template too!

This little fairy will be winging her way to Wendy at The Stamp Attic tomorrow, along with this:

which you're only getting a sneak peek of cos it's for Wendy, and I want her to see it in the 'flesh' first :)

can you hear Spring awakening?

...it means there'll soon be fairies in your garden, ready to play.

I'm sure they've been tucked up warm in their fairy houses over the cold winter months.

This card is a shop sample for Wendy at The Stamp Attic.  It has a simple black and white theme on the front using The Black Market Paper Society Ebony and Alabaster papers

I used the Fairyland collection of Clear Art Stamps to create this image on the front of the card, stamping the lily of the valley flowers close together.  I wanted a simple, yet elegant card that opened up to reveal a hint of fairyland...

[sorry about the shadow, the sun was shining - yes, the sun :) ]

I inked up sections of the toadstool stamp to create the idea of a beautiful garden, and stamped extra flowers, small toadstools and the happy fairy separately, adding them afterwards with silicone glue.

I left space at the bottom of the card to write a birthday message!

Another fairy card tomorrow for you fairy lovers out there!!

Edit:  hmmm, maybe I spoke too soon, it's now snowing!!

fairies in the Stamp Attic

Well, that was the plan!

It wasn't until I spoke to Wendy yesterday that I realised that the first two cards I 'd made using the fairyland stamp set didn't feature fairies at all!  Duh!!  But stay tuned, as fairies are on their way, I promise!!!

This ATC was made using the Radio Times, Adirondack Colour Wash in Stream and a Lake Mist acrylic dabber.  I printed the quote off the computer and stamped the nest on off-white card before cutting it out.  All materials, apart from the Radio Times ;), are available from the Stamp Attic!

I sketched this card design out last week and am really pleased with how it's come out.  EDIT: [The card is against a background of painted Radio Times paper to make the photo look a bit more interesting ;)] I didn't let my lack of nestabilities stop me making an oval with a scalloped border!  I printed an oval shape in Word and used it as a template then drew the scallops by hand with a white gel pen.  The background to the bird was made in the same way as I often do the backgrounds in my journals, and again features the Radio Times :) .   The background paper is a Daisy Bucket design called 'In the Meadow' and I used the swiss dots EF with my cuttlebug for the top section.

I love how vintagey these images are! Don't forget to watch out for the fairies...coming soon :)
