journal workshop

I've had a wonderful day today.  I taught my steampunk journal at Paddy's and thoroughly enjoyed myself :)

And got to meet a blogfriend IRL!  Sarah A and I met over at The Play Date Cafe and it turns out that she doesn't live that far away, and was able to make it to the workshop today :)

As usual I was pretty rubbish at remembering to take photos.  We had a fabulous time with walnut ink, various autumn colour inks by Sticky Fingers, and Distress Inks.  Everyone had to restrain themselves from cuttlebugging too many of their pages!   The ruler and the cogs were particular favourites.

We had a very special treat at lunchtime.  Sue and Cynthia, like the good students they are, have been off journalling.  They've taken Dina Wakley's online graffiti class, and combined it with some ideas from my journalling classes and come up with some regular prompts to use on their pages.

I love Cynthia's money tree!  And should have got a photo of Sue's word collage on a hand shape.  I'm off on my hols on Monday - two weeks camping on the Isle of Wight.  I'm scheduling some posts but please forgive me for not visiting your blogs for a while.

taking it easy

Alcoholinky left me a link to the demo version of this game, knowing I love the steampunk style.  What she didn't know is I also love logic games so this computer game is just PERFECT for me!!    I'm not a great game player, but this is FAB!  :)  After playing the demo version I just HAD to pitch in and get the full blown version :)   It's called Machinarium and has the cutest little robot and is fabulously illustrated :)

Right, off to do what I should be doing this afternoon!  Don't tell Wendy I was skiving ;)

happy day

After a stressful beginning to my week I'd been really looking forward to today..and it was just sooooooooo good!!!  Possibly not everyone's idea of a great afternoon's shopping, but Sue and I had a fabulous time.  Sue took me to a local 'antiques' centre that sells lots of yummy bric a brac.  Look at these potential steampunk pieces!!!  We had a great rummage through this lot :)

Along with old hardcover books and half a roll of bus tickets each (it was the last one, we have to share), we're all set for some happy days crafting ;)  Bliss!

ps I came up with a great title for this blog post on my drive home....can I remember it?  No!!!

a steampunk romance

I've got an idea for a steampunk themed piece of art to demonstrate at Happy Stampers Northwest at Port Sunlight on 10th October '09 so I've just been doing a bit more research on 'steampunk' to make sure I was on the right track.  And look what I found!!!  How fantastic is this?  And you can see step by step pictures of how he made this in his book here.  Roll on tomorrow, I have a couple of hours to play with this idea and Paper Artsy's new clock stamps :) [check out blog entry dated 25th Sept '09]
