ooooo....inkygeliness on a journal page

I carried on playing with my gelli plate and inks for this week's Stampotique project.  What is great about colouring a page with dye ink pad inks is that you can use a journal with thin pages and they don't need gluing together to make them thicker or gessoing!

This time I brayered some inks onto my gelli plate, then placed a stencil on it and brayered some ink through that before placing my journal on the plate and taking a print.

Stamping onto the gelli plate then taking a print off it makes the stamped image look slightly different (and reversed!)

I turned the gelli plate over so I could see where I was placing my reversed stamped image.....

....then added some more 'shrooms' stamped on text paper, and repeatedly stamped 'each life needs it's own quiet place'.

'Owlseeyou' is enjoying his own quiet place!  I gave the page a bit more 'zing' by adding some colour from my ink pads using a sponge.

Over on the Stampotique blog post I have a question for you!

Oh happy day!

I have had a wonderful day playing!  I was in the company of two very talented artists, Wendy Rudd and Dee Rollinson, who I've known for a while now through the Arts and Faith network.  We decided to have a play day and they both fancied having a go at art journaling, which we did, at the end of Wendy's garden!

What an amazing studio!  Wendy is a textile artist and I'm afraid I did have studio envy ;) [The house is gorgeous too, everywhere you look there's some yummy, yummy textile art!]

Such a beautiful space to create in; in the garden, but warm and cosy!  (although the sun has been gorgeous today)

We smudged paint around on the page with baby wipes, sprayed through stencils, and added die cut and stamped images to our pages.

Of course we dried some of the baby wipes and Dee used some in her pages and on the cover of her journal  (sorry, forgot to take a piccie!)

I wandered from my art journal page back to the piece of cartridge paper I'd demoed on at the start of the day and ended up creating a little zig zag book featuring my Stampotique toadstools.  It was so nice to get back to playing with stamped images again, I've not done it in aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages!

Tomorrow is another play day - over at Dee's house.  We're going to paint on canvases - eeek!  [Dee's a real artist!!!]

I've found a new addiction!

Toadstools!!!  Via another new addiction 'Pinterest.com'.  This is full of yummy arty pictures to look at and opens up a whole new world of blogs and websites!

I came across these fabulous terrariums whilst looking for images for a Mad Hatter's Tea party at The Bean & Brush.   How great is the use of those zips!

And I also spotted these, from LucyKateCrafts.  Whilst visiting Amy's blog, I discovered she's written a book, with some amazing softie designs in it...

.. and with Sophie's birthday just around the corner I ordered one (it's a fab, fab book) and promptly spent the morning of her birthday making a toadstool.

There was a fair bit of dumfing going on in the making of this piece (that's use of the embellishing machine!).  I also added some free machining to the top of the toadstool.

I was really pleased with how the base of my toadstool worked out (although when it goes in the terrarium it'll never be seen).  I used a coloured baby wipe (from my journalling activities) and felted it to some plain green felt.

I can see me getting some more of these made...although the garden called me today and I'm working tomorrow so not sure when!  Sophie had a Mad Hatter's tea party for her birthday so as part of her birthday present I made her a charm bracelet, similar to one I'd seen online:

I was really pleased with how this turned out too.  I want one!!!
