"In England's* green and pleasant land" [Blake 1804] coming across waterfalls or tiny streams is one of my very favourite things whilst out walking. I love the movement of the water as it falls, the fresh greenery surrounding it, and best of all, the wonderful sound it makes.
This photograph brought all this to mind for me, and also suggested the unusual colour combination of gold and silver, which I NeVeR put together.
But I have to say, I just LoVe how it turned out on my journal page! In fact, when I'd finished it, it evoked an almost audible "ooooooooooo".
I will explain. You may have noticed that when you are with friends and admire another's work or see something gorgeous in a shop (especially if you are in a stamp shop when the owner opens a recently arrived box of goodies) you will all, simultaneously, say "oooooooooooooo" in wonderment. This always, always, always makes me think of the aliens in toy story...
Not that I am in any way suggesting we are all aliens lol!
I decided to do a journal page for this week's challenge as I've never used metallics on a journal page, and I'm not sure it would ever have occurred to me to use embossing powder on my pages! I'd already decided I'd tackle the silver/gold combo by using silver and white in the background and adding a 'something' in green and gold. I like green and gold. I like silver and white. I do not usually like silver and gold together.
I do now though!!! I had great fun playing with my metallics Mica Watercolour Palette and my embossing powders. I also incorporated some paper I'd made at The StampMan using Starburst Stains. In fact, I'm dedicating this to my crafty, StampMan DT colleague Vixykins as she invited me to be part of the facebook group
I suffer from A.D.O.S - Attention Deficit Oooooh Shiny
There are lots more shiny projects to be inspired by over at The Play Date Cafe, so don't forget to check out what our other designers made :)
Glad to see that you got home safely the other day, if late! Love this journal page and what a fab picture to inspire for the PDCC - If I only make one resolution it is to enter this challenge more times than I managed last year, lol!
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful, love the stamping on the print, very pretty.
ReplyDeleteFab artwork on show over the last couple of posts.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your caring comments yesterday. I'm pleased to say the sciatica seems much improved today and I'm actually able to tackle some sewing :-)
Hugs,
A x
I love the inspiration photo this week, I love the sound of water in my garden. Great colour challenge too, as I would never put gold and silver together normally so a great challenge. Love the journal pages, the embossing adds great texture and the colours work really well. Tracy Evans x
ReplyDeleteOooo that's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI love that title, totally sidetracked me from what I was doing, LOL. Guess I suffer too.
ReplyDeleteLove those little aliens - and yes I do the 'ooohh' bit too. Your page was lovely and the colours did work really well together.
ReplyDeleteLove the shimmer and shine, Sarah! Wonderful journal page and awesome use of the colors! Your A.D.O.S. is so funny, I think we all may suffer from that now and again!
ReplyDeleteFantastic page sarah, love all the elements
ReplyDeleteGorgeous journal page Sarah! Love all the shimmer! Thanks for the awesome inspiration and color combo to challenge my creativity :)

So, so pretty! LOVE the way you've captured the essence of the gold color. I struggled with it. I don't lean towards that color. Thus, I didn't have much in my craft space to work with, but I did find some harvest gold colored paper.
ReplyDeleteThe shimmer and shine is so lovely on your journal page Sarah! I'm not sure I would have used silver and gold together before this challenge either!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty-love the colours and the glimmer -it has a definite 'ooooooooooooh factor'!!
ReplyDeleteOHHHH! These pages are just FAB! I love your layering of stamping! LOVE the text coming through--LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! Love that you thought of aliens?! Interesting--LOVE visiting here! ALWAYS in awe:)
ReplyDeleteOh fabby! Ooo shiny! Sorry was distracted LOL! Kim
ReplyDeleteA lovely journal page and no reason not to emboss journal pages. You have to try things before you can really rule them out, or not. Hope you get my drift. The green does go really well with the two metallic colours. A great success I would say.
ReplyDeleteThnaks for sharing your art style with me....I know what you mean about parallel lines...sadly not all paper trimmers do an accurate 90 degrees.

Ooooh yes, I like silver and gold together - lovely journal page :-)
ReplyDelete(Your link to Toy Story reminded me that at school we have sessions called 'intervention' and it always reminds me of the sharks in Nemo!)
