aaarrrggggh!

Isn't it frustrating when you can't get to your art supplies and you really want to, even NEED to!!!  It's my own fault; I'm having a bit of a reorganise in my craft room in the cellar.  My way of clearing up is to work through 'stuff' and bin what's necessary, put away what I can, then heap the rest on a table for final sorting.  That's pretty much where I'm up to now and my desk looks like this...

There are more boxes upstairs which I've piled stuff into, either after a workshop I've run or just stuff off the dining room table.  They can all stay there for now though... I need to get that table cleared and make space to MAKE ART (as Wendy Vecci would put it ;)  ).

This is what I'd rather be doing, playing with these goodies.  Those tube watercolour paints were my bargain of the century last week.  WHSmith had them half price at 75p each so I got some for my son for school (he's just starting his GCSE Art course).  When I got to the till they only came up at 1p each.  I couldn't believe my eyes!!!  So after checking my receipt I went back and got one of every colour and some extra ones for me.  However, this time at the till a different girl served me and said she wasn't allowed to sell me them for a penny.   To cut a long story short she did in the end as I'd already paid that price that day so I effectively got £45 worth of paint for 30p - how good is that!!!!

I've also got some ideas re mini tutorials on handwriting styles in your journal that I want to blog...just need to find the darn journals ;)

ps You know the magazine "Where women create"? I've never bought it, I know I could never attain such tidiness. I reckon it's a bit like supermodels, we'll never look like that so why torture ourselves. Anyway, I recently came across this on Ruth Rae's blog, it did make me laugh, especially her Mom's comment! I too work until there's an inch or two space left, but it's not on my table, it's on my lap! And I know there are many more out there like me ;) Come on, let's shout out for where women really create. If you dare, blog it and link back here, make us all feel better (And I might even find a nice bit of blog candy to send out if we get enough comments to randomize a winner)
NOTE: only comments with a picture of their workspace prior to tidying/blitzing.. will be entered in draw  but feel free to comment about any of the above, I've had my own natter about it all as you see ;)

  2. Hi Sweetie! Darn, mine is pretty neat right now, so I can't send a messy picture...but you should see it when it's messed! Maybe in a little while it'll be messy, then I can take a picture. If you're interested in lettering artists, I know one that's SO fabulous, and just as sweet as the dickens also. I love her artwork so much!!! Go to Elviestudio.blogspot.com to see some really magical writing. Lori makes wonderful handmade journals too! I have to get back to mess making...I love your mess by the way...hey, when inspiration strikes, who cares about being neat! Hugs, Paulette ;)

  3. YOU are SO funny! You know how my work stations have looked in the past! I just did ANOTHER move and changed out my 4 ft table to a 5 ft, so now I wish I had taken a photo DURING the move!
Did you get your wooden drawers from IKEA? I have the exact same ones. I used them at the store and now they hold all my scraps.

You are SO right, though....as a reader of 'Where Women Create', it is the 'ideal', so I use it strictly for inspiration, but I would like to see a magazine called 'Where Women REALLY Create'...hmmmm....I feel a project coming on, want to join me?! : )

  4. P.S. While you are tidying...ok, in your case, while you are blitzing, look at it like it's Christmas. Each thing you find will be such a treat...that's how I look at it. That's probably why I am continually tidying!

  5. SARAH, you messy little pup, how could you be so untidy!!!

Ummmm, says me, there is NO way I'm showing an telling about my mess, it's spread over 2 whole bedrooms, the whole dining room and don't even ask Helen about my mess in the warehouse side of the shop!! And, I have to confess to having had a tidy up recently. I cringe when the window cleaner comes:(( Much prefer to be out, he says he doesn't notice inside people's houses, yeah right!! I've so much stuff about I can't even craft in those rooms now, it's either the kitchen or the little table that my lappy sits on:( That's where I put together my tag book for the suitcase Sarah, and the lappy was still on the table! If I can't find something in the mess in 5 minutes, then that's when things really start flying about... oh, it just get worse:O Ian despairs of me.

You got a great bargain with the paints! Always better to have spares, you've got a back up then in case you can't find them. I'd separate them out around the house if I were you;)

  7. Hee hee, I've just about got space for this laptop on the dining room table and there's stuff in here and in the hall. Nowhere to craft, hence have to tidy!!
See, we're all the same ;)

  8. Aren't we just! Looks like I've shamed myself into yet another tidy up after that confession:)

It's the demo boxes that never seem to get emptied straight away! Sigh...

  10. Ok ok, I have taken a photo of my workspace and will upload tomorrow. I think the editor of 'Where Women Create' will definitely be interested in what I have to offer......NOT! Although I have just looked back at the picture of your room and I think you are winning the untidiness competition :-)

  12. I second Julie! I live in the world of "where women REALLY do create". I don't have a "studio" per say, I create 100% at my kitchen table & have a "craft closet" per say. This set up FORCES me to be a bit more organized. When in a midst of a project, things sure do get scattered & misplaced but then it is like Julie said, Christmas when you find it again!! LOL :) Mona
