inky-painty splatterings in {eggplant} hues

I found some more colours to kickstart a journal page!  I do like a challenge, and the number of colours in this photo definitely felt like one!!!

...but really there's just a turquoise with a pale version, three browns and a grey, so just three colours.  I started by digging out the paints and inks I had in these colours/shades.  I never try mixing colours for these challenges, do you?

Then, with supplies at the ready I can get started!  I decided to go for a background in shades of brown, just because!

The flowers are from an idea I had the other day.  I made some terracotta coloured paper then cut out the rounded triangular shapes, adding the ink once the flower shape was on the page.

Squidging the ink off the page yet again gave me some yummy background paper which I used on a tag, stencilling through the paper left from cutting out flowers [see here]

Wasn't sure about this design...

...so finally gave in to the demands of the sewing machine, although looking back at this image, it didn't really need it!

So another 'twofer'! (2 for the price of one), this one for the Stampotique Designer's Challenge.  Although you don't have to use Stampotique images anymore I did use my current favourite stamp 'Journey Collage'; I just love the different sizes of font which makes great texture!

SDC 53: Stampotique ATC

I made this ATC last week but some muppet unplugged our cable (in the box at the top of the road) for the phone and tv on Friday and the engineer didn't get it sorted 'til Mon eve.  The Stampotique designers challenge caught my eye as 1) I've not made an ATC for aaaaaaaaaaages, and 2) this stamp has been waiting to be used for months.  I'm not sure why it's taken me so long to use it, it's such fun!

I stamped the moon and stars on a separate piece of painted paper and added them to my stamped image on the blue ATC.

And then I couldn't resist my sewing machine for a bit more texture!

Happy Valentine's Day!

This fortnight's StampMan Challenge is Hearts, brought to you by the lovely Lisa Sparkle.

I'd already made my textured grungepaper heart using Moonglow two toned embossing powder in Bougainvillea Red/Teal when I spotted my box of leftover tiles from the bathroom.

I added some collage elements after first embossing some flowers directly onto the tile from the Aspects of Design 'Butterfly Beauties' set.  I'd used the same set (the girl's hair) to add texture to my heart.

I'd like to wish all my bloggy friends a very 'Happy Valentine's Day'!  And also enter this piece into the Stampotique Designers' Challenge - Hearts :)

"these beloved candles of the night.." - William Shakespeare

There's just something about the night sky...especially when you are out in the countryside and you can just lie back and gaze into the depths without the distraction of street lighting!  One of our favourite evenings when camping in the summer is spotting shooting stars.

I'm not sure I'd really like to live in this little shed [Stampers Anonymous J4-1164 Moving Up] high up amongst the stars, it looks a little rickety to me, but I love the idea of it.

I splodged some 'Weathered Wood' distress reinker on my pages then added some more blues by putting the ink on some cellophane then spraying it with a silver spray before stamping this onto my page.  I stamped Jo Capper-Sandon's Text Stars [Stampotique] with distress ink directly onto the page then cut a mask and, using a stipple brush, added ink around the edge of each star.  I love how this highlights them!

I added more stars stamped in Wild Honey distress ink onto white paper and cut out.  The words are taken from Amy Wilson's Tall Word Collage [Stampotique] and again stamped in Wild Honey.

I'm entering this journal page into the Stampotique Designers' Challenge, which  requires the use of 'masking' on your project :)
