that space you're watching...

Well!  News will be announced on Monday :)

But whilst you're waiting, here's some fun from Port Sunny.   I took some photos of some of my fellow demonstrators.  Here's Jennie showing us how to make those fab grungepaper roses

She doesn't look like she's been doing this for three consecutive weekends at shows does she!!?  And look, I got my own rose

It's exactly my colours, blues and turquoises :)  I had an hour free at lunchtime to shop and chat whilst Sue Roddis signed copies of her new book

I meant to get someone to take a photo of me demoing but I forgot!!  Sorry!  But this is where I was demoing, and this is my sample

I was working on a jigsaw frame and demonstrating how you can add texture to your work.  You can heat Stewart Gill Metallica and Alchemy paints to make them bubble,  add layers of embossing powder and stamp into it, and then add collage pieces.  This isn't finished yet, but I'll keep working on it.

When I went to find Jill from the Stampman she wasn't demoing as Ian had gone for lunch and she had to cover on the till

but I did get a picture of her inky hands, just to prove she had been demoing ;)

Jill definitely won the dirtiest demonstrator's hands LOL!  Surprisingly I had the cleanest ;), although I bet Tracey's weren't particularly bad thinking about it.  I couldn't get near enough to get a photo but here is a demo piece that she made and gave me.

I ended up getting all the stamps from this demo piece.  I knew I wanted the tree but had to choose between the door in a wall, the door in a tree, or a spider's web.  And I decided to treat myself to a new fairy as I've not had a new one in a long while.  Here's my complete stash.  I love looking at what others have bought so thought you might too.  I also got a lovely yummy piece of moonglow paper that Jill gave me as she said it was very 'Sarah' paper :)  (just my colours you see)

Can you see that corset stamp from Lost Coast Designs?  I had to buy that after my corset adventure this year, especially since just one has wings, just like mine!

last corset ... well, kindof!

Well, I've worked on all eleven corsets and just passed the final one, Monet, on to the next person. My original idea was to fill in with altered flowers as, if you've ever been lucky enough to visit it, Monet's garden is full to bursting with flowers. However, I've been really loving doing the fabric snippet collages so right after working on 'field of dreams' I carried on collaging on this one. I picked a space between another person's work using kunin felt.

A couple of altered daisies snuck in there, and some lace flowers I'd painted with Stewart Gill paints.
One of the corsets is looking in need of a bit of pizzazz so I've brought it home to add some bits to it. I truly am trying to resist the collage, and think I should do some kunin felt work on it as the person who owns this latest corset has done a lot of work with this material on other people's so I'm guessing she likes it! It's called 'Gwendoline Grace' after her Grandmother and I'm going to be able to indulge my button ..hmm, was going to say fetish but not sure that's the right word!!! ;)
Oh, and Becca's got details up on her website re the corset display in September '09.

TMTA: Fly...

The theme over on 'Think Monday Think ATC' is 'Fly' which I think this little rabbit would really like to be able to do, but she's settled for collecting honey on this 'bee-yooo-tiful' day :)

gathering lilacs

I've been working on the latest corset in Paddy's round robin this week. It's Paddy's own corset that used to belong to her Mum and the theme is 'Gathering lilacs'. I added paint, embossing powder, tyvek and handmade paper with beads, lace flowers and some metal butterflies which I coloured with alcohol inks. It was very relaxing, I love working this way.

playing with paint and scissors

I'm teaching a workshop on art journalling at Paddy's Stamping Place on Saturday 18th July and Tuesday 21st July '09 and have been working on a journal based on using rubber stamped images. I've been noting down the images I love and so today I worked on using houses -

I did the coloured background in the rain on Sunday and today I added dripped paint (I've been admiring artwork at my children's school using this effect, and Julie from The Land of Lost Luggage also uses this effect a lot). I think the piece is a bit busy but it's ok so is stopping in the journal!! I then discovered a gorgeous image of a Waybuloo character in the Radio Times. I love illustrations in children's picture books, and sketchy pencil drawings, but realised that these don't feature in my own artwork! Hmmm!

I'm much happier with this page. I scraped turquoise paint over it with a top-up card I got in Tesco. Aren't the phone companies generous giving away free paint tools ;) Then I pressed a fairly dry white ink pad down on the page and added some text stamping.
